Looking for an angsty, enemies to lovers, college sports romance? You’ve come to the right place!
I first heard about Brit Benson from #bookstagram and had to jump into her world from the rave reviews.
Brit Benson writes emotionally deep and thoughtful romance books that grip your heart and make you feel like you’re part of the story. My first read of hers, Better With You is a prime example.
I read this book on Kindle Unlimited and these are my honest opinions.
Riggs Stanton is a thief.
He’s also a liar, a jerk, and a playboy jock.
Sure, he might have had me fooled for a moment.
I might have thought we had a connection.
I might have even considered breaking my “no dating” rule for him.
But it was a farce.
A trick.
Another lie.
And I don’t make mistakes twice.
Now he says he needs me.
One week of my help and I never have to deal with him again.
For ten grand, I can suffer anything for seven days.
Even Riggs Stanton.
Except…
The more time I spend with him, the more I get to know him, the more I question myself.
What if what we shared before was real, and it’s everything else that’s fake?
****Better With You is the secondinterconnected standalone in the Better Love series by Brit Benson.
This enemies-to-lovers new adult romance is sassy, sexy, and has a guaranteed HEA.
It is not necessary to read Love You Better before enjoying Better With You.
Summary: Better With You by Brit Benson
Bailey Barnes is striving to win a cookie competition to secure the prize money needed to honor a promise she made.
During a baking ingredient run, Riggs slyly snatches the genuine vanilla extract from right under her nose. Despite their undeniable chemistry and instant connection, Bailey soon discovers Riggs’ lies.
Now he wants one week to work with him to win another baking competition for 10 grand, which would help her fulfill her promise and beyond.
But the more Bailey spends time with Riggs, the more she finds that maybe there was truth to their relationship after all and everything else is a lie.
My Thoughts: Better With You by Brit Benson
Right from the start I loved Riggs and Bailey’s meet-cute in the baking aisle. The banter between them was playful and flirty, setting the tone for their relationship throughout the book.
I also appreciated how Benson portrayed Bailey as a strong and determined woman, who doesn’t let anyone stand in her way. Riggs was stunned that Bailey rode a motorcycle, and so was I! She’s quite the bada$$.
I thought Brit Benson did a great job with navigating the difficulties between Bailey and her parents. Religious beliefs are something that can truly divide a family and we see it clearly with Bailey and her unmoving dad.
Benson also has an uncanny ability to put words together to make you immediately appreciate the characters and kick up your feet in giddiness.
Riggs is a mysterious character and you uncover his layers right along with Bailey. I especially love his relationship with his mother and how Riggs tries his best to make her happy with the competitions.
I would have liked to read more about his relationship with his father as it seems Riggs’ parents are in a loving relationship.
Between Bailey and Riggs, there are SO. MANY. LAYERS. The chemistry between Riggs and Bailey was palpable and kept me hooked on their story.
But what really stood out to me was how Benson delved into issues of trust and deception throughout the story. It was hard for me to fully trust Riggs and so I’m not sure how Bailey did so.
Benson also focuses on larger issues like parental differences and the LGBTQ+ community. These topics were seamlessly woven into the story and added depth to the plot.
Overall, Better With You is a delightful read that will leave you with all the feels. Benson’s writing style is addicting and her characters are relatable and lovable.
Final Thoughts: Better With You by Brit Benson
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a well-written romance with complex characters and a strong emotional pull.
Brit Benson’s writing will make you feel like you’re part of the story, and you won’t want to put this book down until the very end.
