Looking for your next office workplace romance? Morgan Elizebeth’s steamy The Ick Factor is just for you!
After joining #bookstagram, I’ve added so many books to my TBR and The Ick Factor by Morgan Elizabeth is no different. I saw her book all over my Instagram feed so I decided to jump right into the book.
This is the 4th book of her series Seasons of Revenge and also my first venture into Morgan Elizabeth’s world of writing.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. These are my honest opinions.
Kat has never been on more than seven dates with a man before catching the dreaded ick. That’s all it takes to realize he’s not the one for her. It’s usually something small—the way he puts ice in his cup, drinks his coffee, or his preferred name in the bedroom, but it’s enough to make her realize she could never spend an eternity with him.
Theodore is ready to take over the company his father left for him. He’s spent his entire life working towards the moment when he becomes president, every waking moment dedicated to that goal. Unfortunately, his family man boss isn’t too keen on his strictly single ways and worries if he gets this job, he’ll never start a family. That’s when he lies and tells his boss he has a fiance.
Now, he not only has to prove he deserves the job, despite his rival doing everything he can to sabotage him, but he has to find himself a fiance—and fast.
It’s good that his sunshine assistant has an open schedule and can promise a no-strings deal. Seven dates to impress his boss and take down his rival with zero risk that she’ll fall for him.
But what if this is the one time the ick factor fails her?
Summary: The Ick Factor by Morgan Elizabeth
Kat can only make it to the 7th date before she calls it off because of her dreaded ick. This is usually something small that makes her realize she can’t love the man for the rest of her life: it could be the way he drinks his coffee or what he prefers to be called in the bedroom.
Theodore works with his late father’s best friend and is ready to take charge of the company. Since being a workaholic, he knows the ins and outs of the company and has a vision for the artists they sign on.
Too bad for Theodore, his boss wants him to focus on starting a family and that might not happen if he gets promoted. In a panic, Theodore tells him that he is engaged and has been spending time apart from the job.
My Thoughts: The Ick Factor by Morgan Elizabeth
This is one of those instances where I slightly judged the book by its cover and wasn’t sure I would enjoy it as much as I truly did. After seeing a plethora of 5-star reviews for The Ick Factor, I decided to jump in, and boy am I glad I did!
This was a pleasant surprise! I love the tropes found in this book: office/workplace romance, fake engagement, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine… a recipe for a great book!
I absolutely loved the main female character, Kat. She is bright sunshine, loyal, doesn’t take crap from anyone, and what I love most… her laugh! (I had a friend who laughed like her and it was sunshine!)
I’m so glad to see Morgan Elizabeth writing a female character who isn’t afraid to take revenge on people who hurt her friends. She is such a strong character!
Theodore is all grump, but loves how bright Kat is. He secretly does things for her even though he acts like a tough guy. I loved that he gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, even his work rival.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the chemistry between Kat and Theodore. It wasn’t rushed or forced and became SO sweet!
I’m very happy I gave this book a chance and found another book to love and a new author to follow!
Final Thoughts: The Ick Factor by Morgan Elizabeth
The Ick Factor by Morgan Elizabeth is full of humor, heartwarming moments, and sizzling chemistry. Kat and Theodore’s story will keep you turning the pages with a smile on your face.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves workplace romances, fake engagements, or just wants a fun and enjoyable read! I can’t wait to read more from Morgan Elizabeth!
