I recently picked up Yours Truly due to the rave reviews on #booktok and absolutely fell in love with Abby Jimenez’s storytelling magnificence.
After finishing the book, I quickly requested Part of Your World from my library and could not wait to jump in!
I was once again drawn into Abby Jimenez’s captivating story blending romance, humor, and emotional depth effortlessly. Jimenez’s writing stands out for its witty dialogue, relatable characters, and thoughtful exploration of important themes.
This is Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez book review with my honest opinion.
After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.
Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?
Summary: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
Alexis Montgomery is a successful but overworked 37-year-old doctor from a prominent family, who finds herself at a crossroads in life. She is up for the chief of emergency medicine at work, her cheating ex-boyfriend squats at her house, and her twin brother has relocated internationally.
When Alexis has an unexpected encounter with Daniel Grant, a charming inn owner from a small town, their chemistry and instant connection challenge Alexis to contemplate what truly matters in life.
Despite the stark differences in their backgrounds and the pressures from her elite social circle, Alexis and Daniel’s connection grows, presenting a heartwarming exploration of love, societal expectations, and the pursuit of personal happiness.
My Thoughts: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
Oh, where do I even start with Part of Your World? First off, Abby Jimenez has this uncanny ability to craft a plot that’s like a hug from an old friend—warm, comforting, and exactly what you need at the moment.
The story of Alexis and Daniel felt so genuine and engrossing that I found myself cheering, crying, and laughing alongside them. Abby skilfully navigates through the ups and downs of their relationship, making their love story not just a narrative, but an experience.
Alexis and Daniel’s meet-cute set up their inside jokes throughout the story. Every time they continue to meet up (since Alexis lives 2 hours away), the small town of Wakan brings magic to their relationship.
I’m talking baby goats, a crazy dog, raining acorns, a pig named Kevin Bacon… and so much more!
I laughed out loud at Alexis and Briana’s best friend banter. I also rooted for Daniel based on how much he was willing to give up for Alexis.
I was frustrated with Alexis for how much about her life she kept away from Daniel when he was so open with her to everyone in his little town.
There was something fragile in the silence. I got the feeling that if I hung up without getting her to agree to meet, I was never going to see her again. LIke she would just disappear back into the universe. And something told me she could go either way.
Yours Truly, Abby Jimenez (chapter 7, page 57)
Abby Jimenez weaves humor and emotional depth so seamlessly that you’re often caught off-guard by how deeply the story impacts you.
What I absolutely adore about Abby’s writing is her knack for creating characters that feel real. They’re flawed, they’re trying, and they’re relatable.
The exploration of societal expectations and personal happiness in this book really hit home for me. It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes, finding your world means stepping out of the one you know.
All in all, Abby Jimenez has done it again, creating a world I didn’t want to leave and characters I wanted to befriend. If you need a story to lose yourself in, Part of Your World should definitely be on your list.
